Dark wall blasts the British Minister of Schools at Rebecca Guyver’s The Postal Ledger

Many thanks to our most faithful friend Rebecca Guyver for a superb item on her The Postale Ledger blog combining a letter by the prolific Simon Warren and Dark wall’s recent “Code Enforcement Officer.” With associative brilliance, Miss Becca finds in these diverse works a common thread of artists expressing concern for conformity and uniformity in formal education, specifically in Britain:

Simon Warren is a brilliant observer and social commentator. However, in the case of our dear Pip (Dw), whom you can likely find any day outside the Stop-N-Go with a Big Gulp watching for signs of Neoist conspiracies, we are a bit surprised he has contributed anything to a critique of British education. But we will take it! Dark wall will certainly be thrilled.

Miss Becca, I want to relate to you a curious tale from this afternoon, the result of paranoia or chance operations – I am not sure.

I stepped from the recesses of a Mexican restaurant & a frugal repast of black beans & Orange Crush into the blazing sun on the main drag. In front of me stopped in the street was a long white car (of American make) with CITY OF AUBURN CODE ENFORCEMENT emblazoned in black letters across its doors. I felt beady eyes from its interior meet my own, specifically & meaningfully, before it moved on in the line of traffic.

You learnt somethin somehwere Dw because Mr. Adams was a monachrist. Old Hickory finally had it out with John Quincy & that got settled too.

It’s always a tricky thing to know where my duty lies. From what I know my ancestors left Weymouth to escape the tyranny, settling in Jamestown in the early 1600s. Perhaps it was my manifest destiny to colonise an English school in the 2000s. Although those year 11s may look normal…

Preach the gospel of The Tangerine Oncoming to ’em, Miss Becca! Just like Miss Diane Di P done, you tell ’em:

    “I am a political prisoner.
    Free all political prisoners.”

A link to Dian Di Prima’s “Revolutionary Letter # 49” has been added above!

And don’t mind us on the ranch. Wheez still fightin the War of 1812 afore it all went to Hell.
