MinXus mail from Ms. Svenja Wahl (Heidelberg, Germany)

Svenja Wahl sent this interesting, unusual, sometimes gothic package of material that provides breadth and depth to “The Ineffable Treasures of MinXus” Exhibition. Could this work have been inspired by G-Man’s “Rodent Manifesto”?

Svenja’s correspondence reveals an interesting trend in some recent work received.

Artists are sending – some of them very excellent collage artists – found materials that have not been assembled. Svenja always has a great eye for images and textures. Is this an invitation to collaboration? Recycling practice? Anti-art? The interpretation is intriguing and it is left open-ended. Here are the reverse sides of the pieces above:

Also included is an interesting piece that is an original photo and then the image altered (I think) on the reverse side to make visual poetry:

Many thanks to Svenja! She has a fantastic blog with lots of new work from around the globe:

Dw & I is still puzzling over some of the more cryptic parts, Ms. Svenja. That means we think this is a right fine package.

Now Mr. Whiskers there – he is not a mink. Despite all this talk of minks bein just rats & possums, some of us are holding fast to the position a mink stands apart from a mouse the same way a human stands apart from a monkey.

We realize there is a renegade branch of MinXus that never could quite discern a difference between a human & an ape.

That’s fantastic mail from Svenja! i have spent some time reading the text, I wonder how old it is. 50s? While England is concerned with the rights of lab rats to live a comfortable, painless life, and the fear of being buried alive and trapped in a coffin, US is dealing with… speeding up missile industry. Rancher, I think you have to reassure Svenja about the fact the the minks are treated like royals at the ranch. Hey, they even get to eat french fries.

Ms. Svenja, the Mink Ranch is a nature preserve, zoo & theme park. The minks live out their days in peace in what is very close to a natural habitat.

Empress, Ms. Carina & Svenja are using “vintage” items for sure.
