MinXus mail from Ms. Carina Granlund (Petsmo, Finland) – it’s still about art, poetry & who has the best hair

Here are some exciting new acquisitions for “The Ineffable Treasures of MinXus” Exhibition from Carina Granlund, who is not only one of our most faithful correspondents but also one of the foremost artists working in the spirit of MinXus today. Beyond the shadow of a doubt, MinXus has taken root in Finland and is thriving.

As an earlier M-L post reported, Carina travelled to the USA this summer. She visited California, purchased art supplies at Wal Mart, and produced some “on the road” mail-art. MinXus USA is pleased she enjoyed her trip!

In the work above, Carina has created a stunning collage-poster – playfully referencing earlier Maoist and Soviet state-sanctioned social realism – to communicate the global network of free expression and free exchange, which is here depicted, perhaps, as “The MinXus Internationale.” How wonderful it is to know Finland is among the great MinXus nations of Germany, France, Japan, South Africa, Switzerland – and how we strive to realize that the the dream of MinXus=Lynxus will inspire more artists in other parts of the world.  Carina shares that vision:

Yes Carina, together we are “Building a New World.”

Note “The Red Mink.” Dark wall’s visionary poem, “Mink of the Tangerine Oncoming,” has been an underlying theme of Solar Festival 2012. Carina is one of the few artists who has attempted to explore, unravel and express  the meaning of the tangerine mink. Carina has also very insightfully observed that, for all the other things MinXus is about, it is always about hair; and this includes the tangerine mink:

A MinXus Instant Classic of the highest order! Carina Granlund has synthesized “Mink of the Tangerine Oncoming,” Ezra Pound’s hairstyle, consumerism, aesthetics and many other MinXus-relevant elements into a popart-based masterpiece that would surely please Ray Johnson himself, were he here to see it – a MinXus treasure. The envelope containing this work included one of those minimalist, event score- style pieces that are another aspect of Carina’s talent:

As ever, our deepest appreciation to Carina Granlund. Make sure to see more of Carina’s work at her website:

Got to love Carina’s sense of humor!! Is cheep shampoo as good as expensive? 🙂 Maybe She Rocola would know. She would probably say always go for the expensive one. Cheep shampoo is for trashpo people.
LOVE today’s red mink. It’s got a different look, kind of… perplexed? Curious?
What would we do without Carina…

Dw, do you also have that shampoo ad on TV over there where they go “because you’re worth it”? We can make it the next MinXus motto of the week. “MinXus: because you’re worth it.”

Miss Becca, I figure yer fixin to head back to the chicken ranch after your triumph summer in Maine.

Did you sample the Maine taters? Maine is mostly known for taters. Maine was knowd for Bern Porter but now it’s mostly taters.

With feed prices bein the way they is, we is wonderin if the minks can get by with more taters. They always do like the leftover French fries from the Alsacian Diner.

It was the summer of the squid, in fact. Funny you should ask about potatoes, though. The crop in Suffolk was plentiful! Do minks like potato salad ? i could leave a bit out and see if the baders go for it, It seems to me that badgers and minks must be related… In other news there were lots of shooting stars in Maine and it go me thinking about the solar festival. It’s been fun catching up here!

Ms. Becca, we only know for sure they like French fries. I expect they might take to potato salad. We had a chart somewhere around here of badgers, weasels, possums, minks & how they is related.

With all you adventures and all back East this summer, we haven’t exactly kept good track of you, although we know we have at least one major piece from you for the Solar Festival that’s documented and all.

The original M-L blog got blowed up by ‘errorists or G-Man because the Empress had a case of wysteria & they got the codes & then she had another spell of ‘nesia & can’t remember about it. I spect Rancher will tell a story about it soon. The Empress got in a peck of trouble on her summer vacation.

    I’m glad yours went better.
